Yeah
Last night I went to that SET class and my yoga class. I am definitely feeling the pain today...not as bad as last week though. Tonight I am hoping to swim. I don't want to get out of practice.

Hurry! NOT!
So yesterday I went to the gym thinking that I had to be done by 6:00 to go out to dinner. But it ended up that we didn't go. But I still have a pretty decent workout. I ran 3.1 miles in 24:45 minutes. Then I jogged for another 1/2 mile. I did the moving stairs for 8 minutes. Tonight I will probably do the two classes again. I need to work my muscles from the SET class.

Relief
Thankfully I was able to make it to the gym on Saturday morning. I was worried I wouldn't meet my goal of working out three days a week during the off-season. I ran 3 miles in 23:45 minutes. Next, I did weights for about 20 minutes.

Sore Body
Yesterday I couldn't decide on what to do at the gym so I decided that I would try out a new class. I went to a class called SET (Strength Endurance Training). It was a combo between cardio and weight lifting. After the class I stayed for yoga. My muscles are so sore today. It feels good though. Tonight I would like to swim.

Change of Plans
Last night I was planning on going to a spic class. I did not get to the gym in time so I ran instead. I ran 4 miles in 32 minutes. I was going to do weights next but the weight room was pretty full, so I did the moving stairs for about 10 minutes.

Short but Sweet
Last night we had plans so I made a quick trip to the gym. I swam 64 laps in 30:46 minutes. My swim time has really been sucking lately. I was doing so good before. Maybe I just need more time in the water.

Not Bad
Last night I ran 4 miles in 32 minutes. It is hard to run so far on the treadmill. I get easily bored. I would rather run 5 miles every day outside. It is too dark to do that. Then I did 10 minutes on the moving stairs. Tonight I am going to try to swim, if I get home with enough time to go grocery shopping and make dinner.
Tuesday, December 4, 2007
Hey...
So I haven't posted for a few days. Thursday I swam 80 laps at the gym in 38:52 minutes. Not a great time, but I have never swam that far before. Need to work on my speed more. Friday I did some cardio and weight lifting. Last night I went to a spin class. Tonight should be a good one too!
Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Yes!
Last night was a great workout. First, I ran 4 miles in 32:00 minutes. I was going for the distance factor instead of speed. Then I did a little bit of weight lifting for my arms. Then I went to my yoga class. I have been so bad at going for the past 3 months. I felt it last night and I feel it today and it feels great. Tonight will be my night off so I can do laundry!

Signed up!
Skyler and I signed up for the St. George triathlon. Skyler's brother, Dennis and his wife, Tammy will be doing the race also. Last night I swam 64 laps in 30:40 minutes. Kinda slow, but it has been a few weeks. I want to do some heavy training this month.

Quick Run
Saturday I went for a quick outdoor run. I knew I needed to workout that day because I had only worked out two other days that week. My minimum is 3 times a week. So I went for a 30 minute run to CSUF and back. Hopefully today I can swim. I need to keep up on my training. Saturday we signed up for the St. George Triathlon on May 10, 2008. The spots fill up fast so I made sure we signed up as soon as possible. Skyler's brother, Dennis and his wife, Tammy said they are going to do the race with us too. I hope they follow through.

Tomorrow is the Big Day
Tomorrow is my first 10K race. I am pretty excited but nervous. My right thigh has been pretty tight the past two days and I am worried that might affect my race. Also, I have never run in a race with a distance this far so I am worried about my pace. I think I will do ok. My goal is to do an 8:00 mile pace so I want my time to be 49:36 minutes. The race starts at 8:30am and is in Long Beach. I am going to eat light today and get to bed reasonably early. Good luck to me!
Skyler found out that some people from his work are going to do the half-marathon in Huntington in February. That is the same race I was thinking about doing. So now Skyler wants to join in. I am happy about that. I was worried that he had lost all interest in training for races.

Wow!
Yesterday I wanted to try to improve my running pace so I decided I would do some sprints while I did my normal run at the gym. I would run 2 minutes at my normal pace (7.8mph which is still pretty fast), then I increased the speed to 8.8mph for one minute. I did this for 3 miles. I was so tired! I ran 3 miles in 22:05 minutes. That is a 7:20 minute pace. I did a tiny bit of lifting, because it was pretty busy. Then, I did the moving stairs for 20 minutes. I worked out 3 days this week, which is my goal for the winter season. Three days in the minimum, but four would be great.
Thursday, November 15, 2007
Yeah!
I made it to the gym yesterday. I swam 64 laps in 29:07 minutes. So I think the time I got last time was 2 laps off because I pushed really hard yesterday.

New goal
I signed up to run in a 10K race next week in Long Beach. This is my first race that I will be doing by myself. Skyler doesn't feel prepared enough to run it. He has been pretty busy lately. I am doing this race in preparation of doing a half-marathon next February. Monday I had a day off so I was able to do a run outside. I ran 5 miles in 38:30 minutes. That is a great time, but I had to stop at the beginning because of a bad side cramp. I will be ready for next week. My goal is to run in under an 8:00 minute mile pace, so that would put my time at 49:36. Tonight I am going to try to get a quick swim in. I am already getting too busy to get to the gym. I hate the feeling I get when that happens.

Swimming is fun!
Yesterday I swam. My goal is to swim at least once a week during the off season. I lost count of my laps at the very end (figures!), but I show that I swam 64 laps (one mile) in 28:45 minutes. Good time, that's why I am not sure if it is accurate. I will be devoting an hour or two to the gym tonight while Skyler spends time with his friends.

Pushed it too hard?
Yesterday was a tough workout! On Monday I started to get a little cold. Nothing major, just sore throat, sneezing, sore body, stuffed-up ears. Anyways, I decided to skip out on the workout that night, but Tuesday I felt up to the challenge. I started off running. I ran fast. I ran 1.9 miles in 14:26 minutes. I decided to stop because I wasn't feeling the greatest and when I stopped I got dizzy. So I lifted weights for 10 minutes or so, then I went to yoga. I can't remember the last time I went to yoga class. Probably like 5 weeks or so. It was brutal. It was like I had to start all over again. Everything was hard. Today I am feeling better than yesterday so I am going to try to swim. I want to keep up on my swimming and everything else so when major training starts up in January I won't be starting from scratch.

Long Friday Night
It was a normal Friday night where Skyler was jamming with his friends, so I had the whole night to myself. First, I started off with a run. I felt great running and I ran 2 miles before my shins started hurting. I knew I had to stop if I wanted to be able to run in the Muddy Buddy. Next, I did some weight lifting. I have been neglecting that during the last couple of weeks. After that I did the eliptical machine for 20 minutes and then the moving stairs for 20 minutes.
Sunday was the Muddy Buddy. Last year Skyler was waiting for me at a few of the transition areas. This year we were right on target. We finished with a time of 52:26 minutes! That is 11 minutes better than last year. Skyler didn't feel like he did his best, but I think we did great. It was a lot of fun. I hope we have some great pictures.

Blah
I went to a spin class last night. I have never been to a Thursday night class and I don't think I will be going back. The instructor was ok, the music was boring, and I kept watching the clock. But at least I got a reasonably good workout completed. I will be ready for the race this weekend! Skyler, on the other hand,....

Finally
I ran outside for the first time in two weeks. The air quality has been so bad that it would have been unwise to run outside. Yesterday I practiced some hill climbs. I have been working on running uphill and then continuing to run after I get to the top. That is hard for me to do because I am usually so tired from the climb. I timed my run at 32 minutes for 3.65 miles. Not horrible, but it does include a 0.9 mile climb. I also warmed up for 2 minutes and did a 2 minute cool-down. My right shin is a little sore today. I need to get new running shoes. Hopefully I can do that on Friday.
Wednesday, October 31, 2007
Good day
Last night I got a great workout in, which is good because Monday I didn't have the chance to get to the gym. So last night I did the moving stairs for 20 minutes and then attended my spin class. I also did a 15-minute warmup before the class started. Tonight I am hoping for a good run. The time will change this weekend so I won't be able to run outside after work anymore because it will be too dark.

Thank Goodness
By Friday morning I had only been to the gym ONCE during the week. I was going crazy! Fortunately I made it to the gym on Friday night. I ran 3.1 miles in 24:00 minutes! That is a 7:44 minute mile. After my amazing run, I did the moving stairs for 16 minutes. Then it was party time!
Saturday morning I swam 64 laps in 28:46 minutes. It felt good to swim because I hadn't done it for a week and a half. Tonight might be an off night. The air quality is getting better so I can start running outside again.

Tuesday
It was a pretty average work out day. I started off by running 3.2 miles in 25:30 minutes. That is a 7:58 mile. I paced at a 8:00 mile the whole time except for the last 30 seconds when I sprinted. I did weights for about 10 minutes, not very long. Last I did the eliptical machine for 10 minutes (an extra 100 calories burned). I really want to swim tonight but I am not sure what will be happening. We have a meeting with the house people tonight and I am not sure what time it will be at. I know it will be towards the end of the day. Plus, I have to go to mutual at 6:45 and after that will be too late. I guess I can always make up for it on Thursday night, which is usually my night off. I am bummed about the fires because I can't run outside.

Mad Workout
Friday night sucked! I was numb Saturday morning but I decided to work out anyways. I started off swimming. Skyler told me to swim further than I have ever swam before, so I swam 68 laps. I can't remember my times but I think I swam one mile (64 laps) in 29:10 minutes. After I got home from the gym I decided to go for a short run, but it turned into a longer run because of my pain. I ran 3.8 miles in 35:40 minutes. It was definitely not a race pace, but it was a letting-out-frustration pace. It helped. I don't know if I will be working out tonight due to the same crap from Friday night.

Practice Run
The Muddy Buddy has a lot of hills, so I decided to practice some hill climbs yesterday. I ran up Acacia, which is a major hill for about 3/4 mile. After that my run was cake. I ran 3.6 miles total and the time doesn't matter because of the hills, but it was 31:50 minutes, with a two minute warm-up and cool-down. I love how the weather is changing and how it is darker earlier.

Same old
Last night I went to my spin class. I did pretty well. Nothing unusual. I got my weight down to 107.5 but that was during my off-week for my pills. My weight immediately goes up 2-3 more pounds while I am on my pills. That sucks!

108!
Tuesday is my long day at the gym. I did ok yesterday. First, I ran 3.1 miles in 25 minutes. That is about a 8:00 minute mile pace. Next, I started to do the moving stairs but I starting to feel nauseous, so I stopped after 7 1/2 minutes. I went into the locker room and ended up talking with a friend I hadn't seen in a few years. That cut out my weight lifting time, but it was good to catch up. Last, I went to my yoga class. I hadn't been in 4 weeks so I was really looking forward to the class, but of course there was sub. And it wasn't much of a yoga class. So disappointing! Tonight I will try to go to the cycle class and be out on time to go to a church activity at 7. Oh, I almost forgot to mention...I was at my lowest weight yesterday...108! I wish my pills didn't make my gain 3-4 pounds in the middle of every month!

Friday night at the gym
As much as I don't like Skyler spending Friday night elsewhere, I got a good workout in. I started off with a 3.61 mile run in 29:15 minutes. Then I lifter weights for about 15 minutes. Then I did the moving stair machine for 20 minutes. It was a good workout. I didn't work out on Saturday but I still managed to get 5 days in last week. That is great! Tonight I won't be able to work out because we have to help Skyler's mom. Oh well. Maybe I can still get a 5-day workout week accomplished!
Friday, October 12, 2007
Quickie
Last night I was going to go for a bike ride but the bike pump was in Skyler's car. So I went to the gym instead and did the eliptical machine for 30 minutes and then lifted weights for about 15 minutes. Tonight should be a good workout because Skyler will be done and I won't have to worry about getting home quick to see him!
Thursday, October 11, 2007
Run, run, run
Yesterday I ran 4.6 miles in 38:30 minutes which averages to an 8:22 mile. Not bad, but I really need under an 8:00 minutes mile pace. I found a 1/2 marathon that Skyler and I can train for. It is in Huntington Beach on Feb.2. That gives us about 3 1/2 months to train. It will be hard for me because I feel like my legs are falling apart. I need to buy new running shoes. I have slight shin splints today and I can feel my knees slipping back into bad shape.

101!
This is my 101th post! I can't believe I have posted so many! Anyways, last night I made it to my spin class, barely! It was a great class. That was all I did last night. Tonight I plan on running 5 miles. I want to do a 10K in the next month or so. Hopefully I can find one!

New Swimming
I read about the correct way to do a swim stroke, so I gave it a try yesterday. It was hard...although it is always hard to change something you have been doing differently for the past year. So I did my first 32 laps at a leisurely pace so that I could learn how to do the stroke. I swam 32 laps in 14:48 minutes. It was an ok time. Actually it wasn't too bad. Then I swam the next 16 laps at a quicker pace and swam those in 7:05 minutes. Nice! Then I finished off the last 16 laps in 7 minutes. So my total time was 28:54 minutes. I think that is a record for me. I will have to look back at previous mile times but I am pretty proud of my time. Tonight I am hoping to go to the spin class I like, if I can make it back from the dealership in time. Class starts at 6:30 so I need to be at the gym by 6:00. It is 4:15 right now.

Memories...
Friday night I was at my parent's house for Holly's birthday party so I did my workout there. I went on a 4 mile run around town. I used to do that all the time and it brought back so many memories. I can run a lot further than I used to, but I think I am a little bit slower (what!...I have gained some weight since high school). I finished in 34 minutes. It was a good alternative to eating pizza!

Something Different
Yesterday I went to a different gym because of my schedule. There was no pool, no cycle class, and I couldn't run, so I lifted weights and did the moving stairs for 30 minutes. It was an OK workout, but I am going to have to workout tonight to make up for it. Usually I take Thursday off, but I need the extra burned calories. I am aiming for a quick run tonight.
Wednesday, October 3, 2007
Drill Class
I was so excited to get into my spin class last night. I usually go to Yoga on Tuesday nights but I knew Jill wasn't going to be there so I decided to go to a spin class because I really enjoy the instructor for this specific class. She sure makes me work hard. I really enjoyed it. I did about 10 minutes of cardio before the class. Tonight I plan on doing a random cardio because I don't have much time and I can't swim, bike, or run. Maybe I will do some weights also.
Tuesday, October 2, 2007
Short Run
Last night I didn't have enough time to go to the gym, plus the pool is out of order, so I just did a quick run about the neighborhood. It was a 3.6 mile run and my time was 29:20 minutes. Not bad. Tonight I am going to try to go to the 6:30 spin class. I like the instructor.

Friday Night Workout
The gym is pretty empty on Friday nights. Good for me. At least I am not just spending my time on my butt while Skyler is out with his friends. Anyways, I ran 3.5 miles in 27:20 minutes. Awesome time! 7:48 mile. I am happy with that. I could have ran further but I really had to run to the restroom. After my run I lifted weights for about 20 minutes. Then I ended with the walking stairs for 20 minutes. I probably burned over 600 calories. And I ate a good dinner. Too bad that doesn't happen every night!
Friday, September 28, 2007
Same old
Wednesday night I went to my spin class. It was a good workout. Yesterday nothing. Tonight I want to run, do another cardio, and do some weights. Skyler is busy with friends so I have a whole night to myself.
Wednesday, September 26, 2007
Running is for Winners
Last night I was able to get a quick run done. I ran 3.9 miles in 32:10 minutes. Not a horrible time, but not great either. Tonight I want to try to go to my spin class before I have to be at a church activity. I will only have about 15 minutes between the two.
Tuesday, September 25, 2007
Swimming!
Yesterday I swam. I haven't been emphasizing this enough lately because there is no swimming in our next race, but I know that I need to work out it because my swim race times suck! So yesterday I swam 66 laps (I accidentally swam two extra laps--a counting error) in 30:05 minutes. I swam hard because intense-swim guy was in the lane next to me. After swimming I did the stair machine for 20 minutes. Today I am going to run, hopefully outside.
Monday, September 24, 2007
Short Saturday
So the plan was to ride my bike to Fountain Valley for a baby shower and then ride home, but it rained instead. I love the rain so I am not bummed, but I had to compromise for a shorter workout for Saturday instead. I ran about 3 miles. I didn't time the run, but it was an OK run. It was in the morning and I forgot to eat something before so I had no energy. Lesson learned! Tonight I am planning on swimming, weights, and some other cardio. I must spend one hour at the gym.
Thursday, September 20, 2007
Outdoor Bike Ride
Yesterday I rode my bike outside. It's been awhile since I have done that and it was not a race. I rode about 11.5 miles and my total time was 45 minutes, but that is not very accurate due to streetlights and stop signs. I got some good hill practice though. I need that for the Muddy Buddy.

Tuesday=Long Gym Day
So on Tuesdays I have been going straight from work to the gym so I get there around 5:00. Yesterday I swam and I tried to do some drills. I swam 95% for 300m then 75% for 100. I did this four times. My times for the 95% were coming out great. It is hard to compare though to me normal swim times because they have been just straight swimming. After swimming I did some weights. I focused on arms and calves. After weights I went to my yoga class. We also focused on arms a lot. Tonight I have to be somewhere at 6:45 so I can't go to my spin class. I think I am going to bike on my own in the streets of Fullerton. I really need time on my bike anyways.
Tuesday, September 18, 2007
Wow!
Yesterday I decided to do my run at the gym so I could do some weights after. I ran 3.1 miles in 24:38 minutes. That's under an 8:00 minute mile. That is so exciting! After I ran I did weight for about 15 minutes. I feel great. Last night Skyler and I also went on a night walk. I was probably about 1.5 miles. The weather is really starting to cool down and I am loving it! Can't wait to go to Mammoth!

Rocky start
So my first week back to training after the race was kinda bad. I only worked out 3 times and only one of those times was at the gym. And I indulged on way too way desserts. I knew it would happen sooner or later...my cravings for sweets came out all at once. Friday afternoon I did a long run. I ended up running 5.4 miles total, but I consistently ran 4.6 miles before my knee starting hurting. I know not to push it because I don't need an injury. So I ran 4.6 miles in 37:40 minutes, which is a 8:15 mile. My times are getting so much better. I really need to space out my running but be consistent about it. Now improving my biking is next. That is what I am hoping to do this afternoon.

Time from race
Pacific Coast Triathlon - September 9, 2007
SKYLER WALLACE SWIM 0:20:05, BIKE 0:44:19, RUN 0:23:17, FINISH 1:27:41
ELISE WALLACE SWIM 0:23:24, BIKE 0:46:15, RUN 0:24:14, FINISH 1:33:53
KRISTINA NIELSON SWIM 0:17:49, BIKE 0:41:38, RUN 0:21:00, FINISH 1:20:27
Last night I went to my Spin Class. I had a great ride. I am trying to ride more out of my seat to prepare for the Muddy Buddy. Tonight we are having dinner with the missionaries. I know I don't have a major race to train for right now, but I feel bad (physically) if I don't work out at least 4 times a week. I guess I can still accomplish that this week, but I already had Monday off. I am liking how my body looks right now and I like the weight loss. I don't want to gain any weight during the off season.

And my training begins again...

Pacific Coast Triathlon
Yesterday was the big day. I was worried because Skyler had been feeling sick all week. I thought he would not be racing, but somehow he felt better yesterday morning. So the three of us raced in the triathlon (me, Skyler, Kristina). The water was frigid. It was 58 degrees. Thank goodness I was wearing a wetsuit. Kristina said she felt hypothermic (she didn't have one). The swim was about twice as long as our last race. I did ok on the swim, once I got past the icyness of the water. So I finished the 1/2 swim and then there was a hill that ascended 300 feet that we had to go up. It was the type of hill where you go just as fast walking as you do running. It was intense! The bike went well for me. The course pretty much just consisted of hills. I felt strong on the hills. I was passing people going up and coming down. Last was the run. I felt good on the run. At our last race, I felt like I wanted to pass out on the run, but this time I felt good. I definately ran faster but they threw in some curveballs. Towards the end, we had to run on the sand for about 1/2 mile. And the very last part of the run was another giant hill, similar to the one we had to go up after the swim. It was very difficult. I finished the race with a time of 1:33:50. Skyler had a time of 1:27, I think and Kristina had a time of 1:20. She placed third in her age group. I placed 16th out of 40. I feel really good about my time. I am anxious to see the splits.
I guess the next race I am training for is the Muddy Buddy. The only problem is that I don't have access to a mountain bike so I will have to go to the Spin Class a lot for practice. That race is on November 4, about two months away.

4 More Days!
Last night I swam 64 laps but I didn't have the best time because I was sharing a lane with another girl that was slower and then a dad playing with his kid in the middle of the lane. But I still swam a mile in 30:30 minutes. After that I did some weights. I would really like some nice-looking calves. I lifted a little of everything. Then, it was yoga class. Not sure what tonight will consist of. I am back to the days of inconsistent workouts due to Skyler being home more often. I like that!

Hot Weekend
It was a scorcher! But I did get some workouts in. Saturday Skyler and I swam at Corona del Mar. Our whole swim was probably about 20 minutes long. Not too bad. The water was cold so I was glad we were wearing our wetsuits. Yesterday I went to the gym to get away from the heat. At least I would have a reason to be hot. So I ran 2.8 miles in 22:15 minutes. That is a 8:00 minutes mile pace. It was hard, especially since I had to go to the bathroom the entire time I was running. That's why it ended up only being 2.8 miles instead of 3.1. After that I swam 20 easy laps in the pool, just to cool down. Then I did some weight lifting. Tonight I am going to do a serious swim and then yoga. Yesterday I was at 109, almost the same number as the temp in Fullerton.

Going strong
Yesterday I ran 4 miles on my new running loop. I did it in 34:16 minutes. That averages to about 8:35 per mile. Not bad. I am getting a faster time on that run, so that is good. I can run faster at the gym, but it's the outdoor running experience I need. Tonight I am off and tomorrow Skyler and I are going to do some swimming at the beach and maybe a bike ride. I need to get my back bike tired because it is flat for the tenth time. I think there is something wrong with my bike wheel. I want to get it checked out.

Feeling a little sore
These past two days I have felt a little sore, not like a hurt sore but more like a worked-out-hard sore. Last night I went to me Spin Class. The regular instructor is gone for the next 4 weeks so we had a sub, but she wasn't nearly as good as the sub from last week. She had old music (on CDs even!) and wasn't as motivating. But I still got a good workout. After the class I did 10 minutes on the stairs again. I figure that I don't need to hurry home since Skyler is not there. I really miss him and will be glad when the party is over!

Tuesday
I got a good swim in last night. I swam 64 laps in 29:32 minutes. My record time from the other day was 6 seconds faster than that. After swimming I went to my yoga class where she worked out our legs and shoulders a lot. Tonight I am once again on my own so I am going to go to the Spin Class. I wish the sub from last week was going to be there again, but I am sure I will still work out hard. I worked out on the stairs the other night for the first time and I can totally feel it. I think I might try to do them again tonight before the Spin Class. Last week I got five work outs in for the week and this week looks like it will be the same. That's the only good part about Skyler hanging out with his friends too much!

One hour
I have made it my goal to stay at the gym for at least an hour when I am there, so yesterday I made sure that happened. First, I ran 3.1 miles at a 8:28 mile pace, about 25:20 minutes. Then I walked another 1/2 mile as a cool down. Then I lifted weights upstairs for about 20 minutes. I still had a little time left so I did the stairs. This is no stair-master. It is full-on stairs that move. So I did those for 10 minutes. As I am driving home I talked to Skyler who said he was just leaving home to go to a friend's house. I took my time getting to the gym and then stayed so long that I missed getting to see my husband for the night. Oh well. I had a great workout. Tonight is swimming and yoga.

The Weekend
Friday I had all the time I wanted to run so I decided to try out a new route. I ran up Acacia into the rich area of Fullerton. There were a lot of hills up there. I had to stop about three times to catch my breath after some huge hills, but I ended up running 5 miles total. My total running time was 44 minutes (that does not include walking time). I felt great!
Saturday I swam at the gym. I didn't feel as great as I did the other day when I ran. It could be because I wasn't feeling so good the previous night, but I still swam fairly well. I swam 64 laps (one mile) in 29:55 minutes. That is about 30 seconds slower than the other day, but I am ok with that. Tonight I am hoping to run and maybe swim. But if I don't swim then I will lift weights.

Yeah for swimming
Last night I swam my fastest mile ever. Although I have only swam a mile a handful of times, I am still proud of my time. I swam 64 laps in 29:26! I think the change came from my small sprints. Every 10 laps I sprinted one lap (25 yards) and then I would return to my normal pace. But right after the sprint I would still be swimming faster than my normal pace so it kinda helped me go faster. After swimming I went to yoga. I hadn't been in 2 weeks so it was nice. But crazy buff Mexican girl took space that Jill and I have claimed as OUR spot. So we had to re-adjust. That girl could kicks our butts--at the same time!

Another great run
So I did another outdoor run yesterday. I ran the same route as last week, only backwards. I ran 3.8 miles in 3 minutes. That is a way better time than last week. I think part of the problem was that I didn't pause my stopwatch when I was stopped at a stoplight. Oh well. Just doing the run was a good exercise. Today I am going to swim and do yoga.

Outdoor Run
I am trying to do more outdoor runs because it will help a lot more with my races than the treadmill will. Yesterday I ran 4 miles in about 37 minutes. It was not a good pace but I feel like I accomplished a lot because of the distance. I am trying to work more on running longer distances. This weekend we are going to Lake Mead. Maybe I can get a good swim completed. Oh, we signed up for the Pacific Coast Triathlon on September 9. About three weeks away!

Yeah Running
So last night I skipped yoga and did a good run instead. I ran 3.1 miles before I started my slow jog cool-down. I think I need to run outside more often because it seems to be easier and the distance doesn't seem as far. It has just been so hot outside that I don't have a desire to go outdoors and exercise. After running I did a little bit of weightlifting. I am sore today from that. Tonight is my night off!

And I've Started Again....
Skyler and I decided that we are going to do the Pacific Coast Triathlon in Newport Coast on September 9. That is less than a month away. So yesterday I did a good swim. I swam 64 laps in 30:15 minutes. Not bad, but I need to kick it up a notch. Actually, I want to start doing drills so I can get better at sprint swimming. Jill won't be at yoga tonight so I might not go either. I really would like a good run. We will see!

Finished!
Yeah! I finished the Camp Pendleton Sprint Triathlon! It was awesome! I feel like I did pretty well. Yes, I was mad at first because Kristina beat me. But I felt a little better after I found out that she beat Skyler also. I guess she is better than we all thought, including herself. The swim was really hard for me because the waves started getting big as my wave started. I got thrown back by a few before I realized I had to watch the waves and then dive under when one was coming. Also, on this swim I felt like the s were swimming everywhere. I keep getting hit, kicked, and swam into by everyone. It didn't get any better as the end neared. But I feel like I still did ok. Then the bike was next. I pushed pretty hard on the first half of the bike, until I saw Kristina and figured out that she was 5 minutes ahead of me. Then I kicked myself into gear and did the second half of the bike super hard. So when I got to the running portion I was beat. It was so uplifting to see my family cheering me on. It put a smile on my face! Skyler ran next to me for the first 3/4 mile of the run to give me a pep talk. He is so sweet to me. I felt like I could barely lift my feet but I kept plugging on. By the last mile, I started to get some strength back and I finished my run strong. It was a great race! Not sure what our next race is, but I am hoping for Newport Coast, because it is close!

One more day!!!
Well, tomorrow is the big day! Yesterday I did a quick swim as my last workout. I swam about 34 laps in 16 minutes. I am ready for this race. The only thing I am worried about is my front bike tire. The other day it was completely flat, two days after filling it up. So Skyler changed the tube again last night. Hopefully I won't have a problem...although I do know how to change a flat. I hope all goes well. I hope the water is not too cold! Good luck to us!

Getting ready
So last night I planned on running 3 miles before my yoga class. As I started my run my legs didn't feel very good. I didn't want to get shin splints right before my race, so I only ran one mile. I am not even sure of my time, I think it might have been 8:30. Anyways, so then lifted some weights and went to yoga. Yoga is probably the best activity for me this week. I found out that my family is coming to watch my race. That makes me feel special. 3 more days!

The countdown begins!
So yesterday I had a pretty good workout. I had a great plan of riding to the gym, then swimming, then finishing with a long ride home, but I forgot about the swim class at the gym. So I went on my bike ride first. I rode 13 miles in 52 minutes. I practiced the Bastanchury/St. College hill twice and the Harbor/Brea hill once. I really want to excel at hills. I really need to excel at biking all together, because I think that is the only chance I have of beating Kristina. So after my ride I swam 40 laps in 18:20 minutes. Not bad. So I found out today that Kristina and I will be starting at the same time. That makes me more nervous because now the only way I will know if I am beating her is if I am in front of her. I know that I should only be competing against myself but now I have living competition and I want to win!

Good Run
Saturday Skyler and I did a long run on the Fullerton route. I ran a total of 4.8 miles in 40 minutes. Not bad. But I had to make two stops, one for a bathroom break and one at the halfway mark. Not a bad run, but I need to be more consecutive. Today I am either riding with Kristina or I am swimming and running at the gym. Tuesday I think I will do yoga but I want to do something else also. I can't run because I might run today. I guess I should take a bike ride today and then I can run and do yoga tomorrow. Then, I can swim on Wednesday and then one last bike ride on Thursday. Friday I can do an easy workout and then Saturday is the day!

Wednesday
On Wednesday I ran a fast mile. I ran it in a little less than 8 minutes. That's fast for this time in my life. I can continue to get faster. Then I went to my Spin Class, which I hadn't been to in weeks. It was a good workout. I am ready for this race next week. Kristina is very good at swimming and running so I think I will have to focus on my bike so I can catch up with her. She starts 5 minutes before me. I am so excited. Tomorrow is a prep and train day for Skyler and me. One more week!

Monday & Tuesday-Taking it easy!
So Monday I decided swimming would be the best workout for the day. I swam about 45 laps in 21 minutes and then my right foot started cramping up. I tried to keep swimming but it was hurting my toes. So I stopped. Tuesday I went to me yoga class. I hadn't been in about 3 weeks so it was a good workout and relaxation. Tonight I am looking for a tough workout. I want to go to my Spin class and try to run before the class. We will see how I do!

Back from the cruise
We made it back from the Caribbean. What a fun time! And I actually got in some good workouts. I am fairly surprised because I didn't expect myself to have a desire to work out, but I did! I worked out on five different days. #1-Swam for about 25 minutes in the ocean. Of course I didn't need a wetsuit because the water was warm and wonderful, but very salty. It was probably about 0.75 mile. #2-Ran four miles in 33:30 minutes. So excited because I ran so far! Plus I did about 10 minutes of weights on arms. #3-Ski machine/elliptical for 30 minutes. #4 Ran four miles in 32:30 minutes. Yeah! Then I jogged another mile in 8:30 minutes. #5 Short day....rode a crappy, hard-seated bike for 15 minutes then walked a mile. I didn't want to push a leg injury. And tonight I am planning on a swim workout. My right shin is slightly sore so I don't want to risk running, but I think swimming will be good. The race is in 13 days. Kristina has signed up. We looked for a bike for her but haven't found anything yet.

Quick Run
I did a quick run yesterday because I knew I wouldn't have time to do anything longer. I ran outside and it was about 2.6 miles. Not bad. I wasn't super tired when I finished. I still need more running practice. Found out yesterday that Kristina is going to do the Camp Pendleton triathlon with me. So excited about that!
Wednesday, July 18, 2007
Yeah?
So sometimes I am unsure of my time on my swim because the clock at the gym is kinda weird. When the second hand hits the 12 the minute hand is halfway between two minutes so it is difficult to tell which minute the hand is on. But last night it looks like I swam 50 laps in 23 minutes. That is a record if it is correct!
Tuesday, July 17, 2007
Yeah!
So I did a good run yesterday. I ran 4 miles total, the longest I have run in a long time. I ran the first 3 miles in 25 minutes, then took a one minute rest, then ran the fourth mile in 8:45 minutes. My shins don't hurt much today. After I finished my run I did a little bit of weight lifting. Tonight I will be swimming only. I have to go to a family dinner at 6 so I have just enough time to swim a mile.

Hopeful Monday
Last week was a bad week! Only 2 days! This week is going to start off well tonight. I am planning on doing a long run, followed by a little swimming. Running is my biggest issue right now. I just need to make sure that I am stretching enough before I start.
Thursday, July 12, 2007
Good Swim
Last night I had time to do a quick swim. I swam 48 laps in 22:36 minutes. I thought that was pretty good. My run still needs to improve. I am a bit worried about that, but hopefully I can get some good runs in next week.

Bad Week
I hope last night is not the only night I get to work out. Monday Skyler and I went to Hollywood with some friends to be in the audience of the Jimmy Kimmel show. Tuesday I made good use of my gym time. I went there straight from work. First I ran 3 miles in about 25:40 minutes. I haven't run in about a week so I feel like I am starting all over again. I need to be more consistent in running because that is the event I need to work on. Next I swam. I only swam about 22 laps because I was having problems with my goggles. Plus, I needed to be out in time to get ready for yoga. Last, I went to my yoga class. I missed it last week so it was good to go yesterday, although there was a substitute. Tonight I wanted to go to my Spin class but Skyler and I have to be at a friend's house for dinner at 7:00, so I think I will try swimming again tonight. Hopefully I will have better luck! One month from today!

Good and not good
I didn't workout on Tuesday. But on Wednesday I went on the longest bike ride I have ever done. Skyler and I finally did the there-and-back ride to the beach. It was the 4th of July and we had all day. So we started off on our ride down there and it was so windy. I contemplated saying yes if Skyler had asked me if I wanted to turn back. But we made it down there, ate some Taco Bell, and sat on the sand in Newport for about 30 minutes. Then we rode back home. It was a lot nicer ride than on the way there. It was a total of 46 miles for the day. Last night I swam 60 laps at the gym. Probably in about 28 minutes. This weekend we are going to Lake Mead so the only training I might get is swimming. We will see!

Mini Monday
Yesterday it was about 100 degrees outside...the perfect temp to run! So I did a quick run, only 2.6 miles. I ran it in 22 minutes. That puts it at an 8:27 minute mile pace. Not bad, especially since it was so hot. But I noticed that running outside works different muscles that running on a treadmill. I definately need to run outside more. Tonight my plan is to do a quick swim.

Super Saturday
So Friday I rode my bike to and from work. It was a nice little workout. Saturday I did a mini triathlon. I rode my bike to the gym. It is 2.75 miles from our apartment and it took me 12 minutes (stoplights are such a hinderance). Then I ran on the treadmill for 3.1 miles in 25:20 minutes. Then I swam 30 laps in 14:20 minutes. Then I rode my bike back home. It was a great workout and almost made up for the few days that I missed earlier in the week. This week should be somewhat difficult again. Wednesday is a holiday and we are going to Lake Mead this weekend. Hopefully I can get 4 days of training completed. The race is only about a month away! I am trying to get Kristina to do the race with me but she is being a slacker!
Friday, June 29, 2007
Horrible
I feel so bad! I have gone two days without working out and then today will be Day #3. In my defense I have to say that I rode my bike to work today. It is 4.6 miles and it took my about 23 minutes. There are a lot of stoplights and I see room for improvement. I was sweating so bad when I got here so I will have to bring a change of clothes next time. Anyways, I will be having a major workout tomorrow. Hopefully I will be doing all three events. Happy Friday!
Wednesday, June 27, 2007
Yoga Night
Yeah! I got to do yoga last night. I missed it last week and I could feel it. Before class I did a little bit of weight lifting. I am trying to focus on my arms so I can have a more powerful swim. Yoga felt great! I like feeling solid. Tonight is iffy about working out because I finally get to hang out with Skyler and we might go to Disneyland, but maybe I can sneak a quick workout in before he gets home!
Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Monday
I had some problems with the treadmill last night but I ran almost 3 miles. Then I swam 30 laps. No times on either because I just wanted to do my thing without the pressure. I want to start showing some improvement, especially on my run. I want to run tonight but I know it will hurt my shins. So I will probably do some weight lifting before yoga tonight.
Monday, June 25, 2007
Good End of Week
Friday night I had all to myself so I decided to swim. I wanted to run also but I had already ran twice that week so I didn't want to push my chances of shin splints again. So I swam 60 laps in 28 minutes exactly. It was a great swim. I felt great doing it and after it. Saturday Skyler and I did our training together. First, we went to Corona del Mar and swam out to the swim markers and back twice. It was probably about 300 meters total, maybe...I don't know because it's hard to tell how far you swim in open water. I hadn't swam in the ocean for so long. I kinda got freaked out when the seaweed would touch me but I got better. Next, we rode our bikes back from the beach. It is about 20 miles. We did it in 70 minutes. Tonight I am hoping to get some running and swimming in.
Thursday, June 21, 2007
Something
At least I did something last night. I ran 3 miles in 26 minutes. I wanted to swim also but I didn't have time. Also, I won't be able to work out tonight either. But I will have Friday night and all day Saturday to get some extra training time in. Skyler and I are contemplating a triathlon in September, possibly on our anniversary. We will see!
Tuesday, June 19, 2007
Good start
Last night I ran and swam. First, I ran 2.5 miles in 22:30 (I don't remember) and then I swam 40 laps in about 19:30 minutes. I don't know if I will be able to train tonight. Laundry needs to be done but I am hoping to go to the gym after.
Friday, June 15, 2007
Wednesday & Thursday
Wednesday I went to my Spin Class. Everything went well there. Last night I ran 3 miles in 27:30 minutes. Then I swam 30 laps in 14:30 minutes. I am feeling pretty sore today but I am enjoying it. This weekend I will be working out by wake-surfing and laying the hot sun. Should be a lot of fun!
Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Much Better
Last night I swam 36 laps in 17:20 minutes. I could have swam more but I didn't have the time. Then I went to my 60 minute yoga class. Tonight is my spin class.
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
Bad, bad!!
Last week I trained 5 out of 6 possible days. That is just great! This week I am already down a day. No training last night. Instead, I watched Skyler play softball on his work team. Tonight I am going to skip the yoga and do a normal workout instead. I am going to swim and run. Not sure which order yet, but I am excited to do it.
Monday, June 11, 2007
The Weekend
Friday I did not get a chance to work out. Saturday I drove with Skyler down to the beach. Then I rode all of the way home, by myself. It was a 21.4 mile bike ride. I did it in about 80 minutes. Not great, but my time kinda gets ruined when I am on side streets and not the trail. It was a lot of fun!
Friday, June 8, 2007
Thursday
I swam 60 laps at the Brea gym. I thought my time was 27 minutes but I must have been off one minute so I think my time was 28:05 minutes, which is great! I don't know if I have ever done better. Love it!
Thursday, June 7, 2007

Tuesday
Last night I ran 2 miles in 17 minutes, which is a 8:30 mile. I am so happy about that. BUT I am not happy about the shin splints I started to feel after. I went to yoga but I couldn't do it at full capacity because of my right shin. It still hurts today so I will take it easy tonight. I am planning on going to my cycle class but maybe I will swim instead. I also need to space out my running. I can't run two days in a row.
Tuesday, June 5, 2007
Monday
I was worried that I wouldn't get to the gym last night because if I don't go right after work, then I get lazy. Anyways, Skyler and I went to the Brea gym (our gym's pool is being maintenanced all week). I ran 3.1 miles in 25:26 minutes. That is my best time for a 5K since I have started training. After, I was pretty tired, so I only swam 20 laps in 10 minutes. Tonight is yoga and maybe running before.
Monday, June 4, 2007
Good Weekend
Friday night I ran at the gym. I ran 3 1/3 miles in 29 minutes. My 5K time was 27 minutes. Saturday afternoon I swam 60 laps in 28:45 minutes. I am glad that I wasn't lazy this weekend. I tend to do nothing when I have a lot of time and more stuff when I have less time. It was great!
Friday, June 1, 2007
Quickie
Thursday I swam a quick 40 laps in 19 minutes. I hadn't swam in about 2 weeks and my arms feel a little sore today. But I swam well so I am happy. Skyler will be gone this weekend so hopefully I will have the motivation to do a lot of training by myslef.
Thursday, May 31, 2007
Yeah for Wednesday!
Well, after a whole week, I finally made it to the gym and did something! I ran 2 miles in about 17:15 minutes and then I went to my Spin Class. Oh boy was I worn out. After about 5 minutes in the class I was out of energy, but I managed to stay through the whole class and still got a good workout. I guess I need to have more energy intake before I get to the gym. It was a great day though. Tonight I am hoping to swim. Hopefully I will have the time for that because I am going to a bridal shower.
Wednesday, May 30, 2007
Argh!
Well, Tuesday didn't go as planned. Instead Skyler and I ate bad food for dinner and walked around Disneyland for an hour. Tonight there will be no changes! I will be going to my Spin Class! Hopefully I can get there early enough to run before. I am crossing my fingers! Only 2 1/2 months before the race!
Tuesday, May 29, 2007
Wednesday and a long weekend!
I went to my Spin Class on Wednesday and pushed hard. I loved it. I did not get any training in on Thursday through Monday. Skyler and I went to San Francisco for the long weekend. We walked all over the city, but I would not call that working out. Just foot pain. Tonight I am planning on yoga and maybe running before. I have a lot of after-vacation things to do tonight. Skyler also started his new job today so maybe we will be able to go to the gym together more often. Here's to starting my training for the Camp Pendleton Sprint Triathlon on August 11!
Wednesday, May 23, 2007
Monday & Tuesday
So Monday was a bust. I drove to the gym to go to the Spin Class. I even arrived 15 minutes early but the class was full. I only had my cycle shoes so I couldn't run and the pool was closed so I couldn't swim. Tuesday I ran 2.75 miles in about 27 minutes. Then I went to my one hour yoga class. I feel great today!
Monday, May 21, 2007
Friday and Saturday
Friday afternoon I swam 60 laps in 29:30 minutes. I hadn't done a long swim in a while so it felt great. Saturday we biked leaisurely down to the beach with my Dad and sister Holly. It was a 17 mile bike ride. We were planning on riding back but we didn't have time.
Friday, May 18, 2007
Wednesday
I ended up going to my Spin Class and I worked hard. I feel that I could have pushed harder on the bike on my race so I want to work my bike legs. I felt great after the class. I did not work out last night. It is going to be harder to work out since Skyler will be home about the same time as me at night. Hopefully we can go to the gym together. Tomorrow we will be doing a serious bike ride, possibly 45 miles! I am looking forward to it!

Day One of Training
Last night was my first night back to the gym. It was nice to be back. Although I enjoyed the few days off, I like working out more. So last night I started off with a relaxing workout...Yoga! Tonight I will be doing something at the gym while Skyler spends the night skateboarding.
Monday, May 14, 2007
We did it!
Skyler and I successfully raced in the St. George Traithlon on Saturday. It was a long two days! Skyler finished with a time of 1:29:44 and I finished with 1:44:54, 15 minutes behind him. My swim was great. I was 10th (out of 41 in my category) for the swim. I thought I did well on the bike but it wasn't that great compared to everyone else. And the run was brutal, but I still did pretty well. My original goal was 2 hours and I beat that by 15 minutes. I am so happy with my time and can't wait to do that course again next year. On Sunday Skyler and I signed up for a Sprint Triathlon at Camp Pendleton on August 11, 2007. That should be interesting because the swim will be in the ocean. I guess I just have to get more practice. Today is a day off to do laundry but tomorrow the training starts again!
Friday, May 11, 2007
ONE MORE DAY! AHHHH!
Well, here was a breakdown for the week. Tuesday night I did a little bit of weight lifting and then yoga. I tried to get Skyler to come but he had school stuff. Jill couldn't come either, but I got a great workout. Wednesday, nothing. Thursday I went for a little job. It was probably around 3 miles and I jogged, not ran. Today I will relax. Tomorrow I will race and I will conquer!
Tuesday, May 8, 2007
Last Hard Workout
Last night I did my last hard workout before the big race. I swam 34 laps in 16:10 minutes. Then I ran 3.1 miles in 26:45 minutes. I felt tired when I got home but tonight I am just doing yoga and maybe some weight lifting. It's time to wind down before the race. I am pretty excited and so nervous that something will do wrong. I need to have more positive thoughts. 4 more days!

Scary Saturday
On Saturday Skyler and I decided to try out our new triathlon wetsuits. We decided that Newport Dunes was the place to do it. It is the ocean, but there are no waves back there. The water was not too bad and my wetsuit kept me warm. The hard part was not having a point of reference. I could not tell how fast I was swimming or which direction. Usually I have a line on the bottom of the pool to keep me swimming straight, but the ocean is a whole different story. We swam two laps, which is about half of what the race will be. It was hard but I am glad Skyler pushed me to do it!
Friday
Friday I ran but I made a change of scenery! After work I drove over to Tri-City Park in Placentia (the same place where the 5K was a few weeks ago). I ran 2.6 miles in about 22 minutes. It was perfect weather for a run.
Friday, May 4, 2007
Thursday
Skyler and I were able to get to the gym for a quick swim. I swam 30 laps in 14 minutes and he swam 28 laps in 12 minutes. Skyler is a fast swimmer, especially for not being able to work out much over the past several months. It should be a great race! 8 MORE DAYS!
Wednesday
Wednesday night I went to my Spin Class for 60 minutes. I don't know if the air wasn't working at all or if I just worked out super hard but I was drenched when I walked out of the class. It looked like I peed my pants! Anyways, it was a great workout. I am hoping to get some outdoor biking in this weekend.
Wednesday, May 2, 2007
Tuesday
Last night was a relaxing night. I didn't get to the gym with enough time to do cardio so I did some weights for about 20 minutes. I worked on both my arms and legs. Then I went to my 60 minute yoga class. It was great! Tonight Skyler is getting home early so we might go to the cycle class together. That would be fun!
Tuesday, May 1, 2007
Moving Monday
Monday I try to make my hardest workout day. Or at least get a great jumpstart on the week. Last night I swam 40 laps in 18:40 minutes, which is about 28 seconds a lap. That means I am improving because I had been swimming at about 30 seconds a lap. It seems like a small difference but it adds up. Then, I ran for 3.1 miles on the treadmill in 26:20 minutes. That beats my 5K race time from last week. I feel like I had a great workout last night, but I was so tired when I got home. Just 11 more days!

The Weekend
Friday afternoon I ran outside. It was hot and I loved it, although it was tough. I ran 3.1 miles in 27 minutes. Saturday morning Skyler and I biked around Fullerton. We biked about 9 miles in 35 minutes. That night we went to the gym. I swam 60 laps in about 29 minutes. Skyler swam with me for 33 laps then he ran on a treadmill. Less than two weeks. This week will be my last hard training week, then I will take it easy the week after. I am so excited! This week should be great!

Thursday
Usually Thursday is my day off unless Skyler and I work out together. I try to use any free time I have with Skyler. So I didn't work out last night. But I am planning a quick run after work today before my Friday night starts. I have also been trying to cut out sweets. I have done better this week and I feel like I am on my way. Two more weeks!

Wonderful Wednesday
Last night I went to my Spin Class and it was great. My body is feeling good and is getting in better shape. I am trying to not eat any sweets before the St. George Triathlon. Hopefully a better diet will help out a little more!

Terrific Tuesday
Last night I got another 3.1 mile run in. I ran it in about 26:30 minutes. I am pretty happy with that time, although my right shin is hurting a bit today. I am going to rest it until Saturday, when I will run again. Tonight I am planning on going to my Spin Class. I haven't been for two weeks so it could be brutal. Only 2 1/2 weeks! So excited!

Awesome Monday
Last night I got a great workout in. First, I swam 40 laps in about 19 minutes. Then, I ran 3.1 miles on the treadmill in 27 minutes. I needed to do a hard run because I wanted to make up for my race on Saturday. I feel that I could have done better during the race. But today my muscles feel great. Tonight will be running and yoga!

Fun Run
I did not work out on Friday, but on Saturday morning Skyler and I ran in the Placentia Get Fit 5K. We figured it would be a fun way to train for the day. Skyler had never ran in a 5K before, but the previous day he ran 5 1/2 miles in the rain in 40-something minutes. I am so impressed. My running isn't as great as it used to be, but Skyler is such an endurance runner. I guess we both have different strengths. Anyways, I finished the 5K in 26:26, which is a 8:32 mile pace. I am prett happy with that. Skyler pointed out that I will probably have the same pace even after I have swam and biked in a triathlon. I guess I need to figure out how to pick up the pace when it is only one event. Skyler placed 3rd in his division and even got a medal. I am so proud of him!

Thursday
Skyler and I had planned on working out together last night, but he wasn't feeling well. So I did a quick swim by myself. I swam 50 laps in 24 minutes. My legs feel great today because I pushed myself hard. Tomorrow Skyler and I are planning on running in the Get Fit 5K in Placentia. It will be a great way to practice my running, especially in a race. I haven't ran this particular race since 2000. I can't believe it's been 7 years. So excited to do it. Hopefully it won't rain!

Day Off
Yesterday I ran at the gym. The treadmill I used cleared all of the info before I could see how far I ran or how long. But I would guess around 16 miles and 1.75 miles. Then I did 1 hour of yoga. Oh how I needed it! Tonight I am taking the night off to hang out with my family at Disneyland!

Good start
After last week's 5-day workout, I knew I needed to keep up the pace. So yesterday I swam 40 laps in 19:45 and then ran 2 miles in 17 minutes. The race is 25 days away and I am so excited about it! Tonight yoga with a short run before...that's the plan.

Running
I ran outside yesterday. It wasn't far, only about 2.5 miles, but it felt great to be able to run outside in the nice weather. I have worked out 5 days this week, so far. Maybe I will get the chance to work out today also! We will see!

Surprise Thursday
Skyler and I went to the Anaheim Hills gym last night. I swam 60 laps. Not sure of the exact time because the stop clock was broken. But it was around 30 minutes.

Awesome
Yesterday I ran 2 miles in 17 minutes. Then I biked in the Spin class for 60 minutes. I burned like a million calories. Felt great! I am working tonight so I probably won't get a workout in. That's ok!

Monday & Tuesday
Monday night I was able to have a great workout! First, I ran 3 miles in 28 minutes, then I swam 50 laps in 23:50. I felt great but very tired after I got home. Tuesday I was unable to workout before yoga class (due to work) so yoga was all I was able to do that night. Even though I don't burn as many calories or my heart rate isn't as high, I feel yoga is something that really benefits my training. I would love to see Skyler come with me sometime!

A new week: Monday
I didn't expect to do any training this past weekend because of work, but work got cut short unexpectantly on Saturday so I was able to go running with Skyler. I haven't ran with Skyler in a long time, partly because I have been avoiding running with him for two reasons: #1-He is a lot faster than me so we don't end up running together, #2-If we do run together, I know I am slowing him down. But it worked out well this weekend because he had to run a little slower due to his bad knees and shin splints. We ran together on the trails of the Fullerton Loop. I hadn't ever ran on those trails before, but there are plenty of them for me to explore. We ran for 28 minutes, probably around 3 miles. The weather was perfect for a mid-day run. It was perfect!

Change in plans
I didn't run yesterday, but I did get a quick swim in. Skyler and I did a quick 30 laps at the gym. I haven't swam with Skyler in a long time. I was able to keep up with his pace, but I was pushing myself hard. I did the swim in about 14:15.

A new day
Well, I didn't get the chance to run yesterday due to a family gathering. But the plan is to run when I get home today, before we go see Chris get set apart as a missionary. It's nice to be able to run around my neighborhood for a few miles. It sure takes a lot less time than driving to and from the gym. Happy Friday!

Cycle Success
I tried to get to the gym early so I could get my cycle pass and then do some weights before class, but I got there with just enough time to get one of the last passes. I really love the cycle class because I am able to push myself, plus I am guaranteed to be doing at least 60 minutes of a workout. Yesterday I made a point to do most of the class sitting down. I feel that I get a better workout that way because it is similar to the riding I do outside of the gym. So I made it through the class (it is still so hard) and emerged drenched in sweat. It felt great. Thursdays are usually my days off because Skyler gets home earlier, but I might try to get a run in tonight because I know I won't be able to work out tomorrow (due to Chris, my nephew, being set apart at 7:00 in south county).

Introduction
My first triathlon race is on May 12, 2007 in St. George, Utah. Skyler read me an article that said that I should start a blog to keep track of my training and also so that other people can help push me along. I have been training for this race since we returned from Costa Rica in the middle of January. I had a rough start due to shin splints. They were probably caused by my enthuiastic approach to running, which means I started off running too much. Luckily, I was still able to work on my swimming and my biking. All of my activities are going very well.
Anyways, yesterday I ran 2.75 miles in 25 minutes. Then I did yoga for an hour. Yoga is the only activity that I do outside of my swimming, running, and biking. Yoga really relaxes me and strengthens all of my muscles. The class I go to is actually a Yoga Pump class which incorporates the use of light weights for the arms. I like this a lot because I don't put too much emphasis on working out my arms and in this class I get to do that. I really should do more strength training with my arms too so I can have great looking, non-sagging arms. Anyways, tonight is my Spin Class. I enjoy that one a lot because I feel like I am getting a great workout and I put in a full hour.
