Same old

Wednesday night I went to my spin class. It was a good workout. Yesterday nothing. Tonight I want to run, do another cardio, and do some weights. Skyler is busy with friends so I have a whole night to myself.

Running is for Winners

Last night I was able to get a quick run done. I ran 3.9 miles in 32:10 minutes. Not a horrible time, but not great either. Tonight I want to try to go to my spin class before I have to be at a church activity. I will only have about 15 minutes between the two.

Swimming!

Yesterday I swam. I haven't been emphasizing this enough lately because there is no swimming in our next race, but I know that I need to work out it because my swim race times suck! So yesterday I swam 66 laps (I accidentally swam two extra laps--a counting error) in 30:05 minutes. I swam hard because intense-swim guy was in the lane next to me. After swimming I did the stair machine for 20 minutes. Today I am going to run, hopefully outside.

Short Saturday

So the plan was to ride my bike to Fountain Valley for a baby shower and then ride home, but it rained instead. I love the rain so I am not bummed, but I had to compromise for a shorter workout for Saturday instead. I ran about 3 miles. I didn't time the run, but it was an OK run. It was in the morning and I forgot to eat something before so I had no energy. Lesson learned! Tonight I am planning on swimming, weights, and some other cardio. I must spend one hour at the gym.

Outdoor Bike Ride

Yesterday I rode my bike outside. It's been awhile since I have done that and it was not a race. I rode about 11.5 miles and my total time was 45 minutes, but that is not very accurate due to streetlights and stop signs. I got some good hill practice though. I need that for the Muddy Buddy.

Tuesday=Long Gym Day

So on Tuesdays I have been going straight from work to the gym so I get there around 5:00. Yesterday I swam and I tried to do some drills. I swam 95% for 300m then 75% for 100. I did this four times. My times for the 95% were coming out great. It is hard to compare though to me normal swim times because they have been just straight swimming. After swimming I did some weights. I focused on arms and calves. After weights I went to my yoga class. We also focused on arms a lot. Tonight I have to be somewhere at 6:45 so I can't go to my spin class. I think I am going to bike on my own in the streets of Fullerton. I really need time on my bike anyways.

Wow!

Yesterday I decided to do my run at the gym so I could do some weights after. I ran 3.1 miles in 24:38 minutes. That's under an 8:00 minute mile. That is so exciting! After I ran I did weight for about 15 minutes. I feel great. Last night Skyler and I also went on a night walk. I was probably about 1.5 miles. The weather is really starting to cool down and I am loving it! Can't wait to go to Mammoth!

Rocky start

So my first week back to training after the race was kinda bad. I only worked out 3 times and only one of those times was at the gym. And I indulged on way too way desserts. I knew it would happen sooner or later...my cravings for sweets came out all at once. Friday afternoon I did a long run. I ended up running 5.4 miles total, but I consistently ran 4.6 miles before my knee starting hurting. I know not to push it because I don't need an injury. So I ran 4.6 miles in 37:40 minutes, which is a 8:15 mile. My times are getting so much better. I really need to space out my running but be consistent about it. Now improving my biking is next. That is what I am hoping to do this afternoon.

Time from race

Pacific Coast Triathlon - September 9, 2007

SKYLER WALLACE SWIM 0:20:05, BIKE 0:44:19, RUN 0:23:17, FINISH 1:27:41

ELISE WALLACE SWIM 0:23:24, BIKE 0:46:15, RUN 0:24:14, FINISH 1:33:53

KRISTINA NIELSON SWIM 0:17:49, BIKE 0:41:38, RUN 0:21:00, FINISH 1:20:27

Last night I went to my Spin Class. I had a great ride. I am trying to ride more out of my seat to prepare for the Muddy Buddy. Tonight we are having dinner with the missionaries. I know I don't have a major race to train for right now, but I feel bad (physically) if I don't work out at least 4 times a week. I guess I can still accomplish that this week, but I already had Monday off. I am liking how my body looks right now and I like the weight loss. I don't want to gain any weight during the off season.

And my training begins again...

Post Options

Well, my race race is not a triathlon but I still want to train as if it were one because it does involve biking and running. The course for the Muddy Buddy is intense. There are a lot of hills so I definately can use some hill training on my bike. Maybe I can find a mountain bike to train on. Yesterday I did an outdoor run. I was surprised to find out that my pace was faster than I thought it was. I ran 4.9 miles in 41:12 minutes. That comes out to an 8:25 minute mile pace. That's great! Plus the fact that I ran 4.9 miles. I am really starting to feel good about my running again. I just need to make sure that I am running 3 times a week.

Pacific Coast Triathlon

Yesterday was the big day. I was worried because Skyler had been feeling sick all week. I thought he would not be racing, but somehow he felt better yesterday morning. So the three of us raced in the triathlon (me, Skyler, Kristina). The water was frigid. It was 58 degrees. Thank goodness I was wearing a wetsuit. Kristina said she felt hypothermic (she didn't have one). The swim was about twice as long as our last race. I did ok on the swim, once I got past the icyness of the water. So I finished the 1/2 swim and then there was a hill that ascended 300 feet that we had to go up. It was the type of hill where you go just as fast walking as you do running. It was intense! The bike went well for me. The course pretty much just consisted of hills. I felt strong on the hills. I was passing people going up and coming down. Last was the run. I felt good on the run. At our last race, I felt like I wanted to pass out on the run, but this time I felt good. I definately ran faster but they threw in some curveballs. Towards the end, we had to run on the sand for about 1/2 mile. And the very last part of the run was another giant hill, similar to the one we had to go up after the swim. It was very difficult. I finished the race with a time of 1:33:50. Skyler had a time of 1:27, I think and Kristina had a time of 1:20. She placed third in her age group. I placed 16th out of 40. I feel really good about my time. I am anxious to see the splits.

I guess the next race I am training for is the Muddy Buddy. The only problem is that I don't have access to a mountain bike so I will have to go to the Spin Class a lot for practice. That race is on November 4, about two months away.

4 More Days!

Last night I swam 64 laps but I didn't have the best time because I was sharing a lane with another girl that was slower and then a dad playing with his kid in the middle of the lane. But I still swam a mile in 30:30 minutes. After that I did some weights. I would really like some nice-looking calves. I lifted a little of everything. Then, it was yoga class. Not sure what tonight will consist of. I am back to the days of inconsistent workouts due to Skyler being home more often. I like that!

Hot Weekend

It was a scorcher! But I did get some workouts in. Saturday Skyler and I swam at Corona del Mar. Our whole swim was probably about 20 minutes long. Not too bad. The water was cold so I was glad we were wearing our wetsuits. Yesterday I went to the gym to get away from the heat. At least I would have a reason to be hot. So I ran 2.8 miles in 22:15 minutes. That is a 8:00 minutes mile pace. It was hard, especially since I had to go to the bathroom the entire time I was running. That's why it ended up only being 2.8 miles instead of 3.1. After that I swam 20 easy laps in the pool, just to cool down. Then I did some weight lifting. Tonight I am going to do a serious swim and then yoga. Yesterday I was at 109, almost the same number as the temp in Fullerton.
