The Weekend
Friday afternoon I ran outside. It was hot and I loved it, although it was tough. I ran 3.1 miles in 27 minutes. Saturday morning Skyler and I biked around Fullerton. We biked about 9 miles in 35 minutes. That night we went to the gym. I swam 60 laps in about 29 minutes. Skyler swam with me for 33 laps then he ran on a treadmill. Less than two weeks. This week will be my last hard training week, then I will take it easy the week after. I am so excited! This week should be great!

Thursday
Usually Thursday is my day off unless Skyler and I work out together. I try to use any free time I have with Skyler. So I didn't work out last night. But I am planning a quick run after work today before my Friday night starts. I have also been trying to cut out sweets. I have done better this week and I feel like I am on my way. Two more weeks!

Wonderful Wednesday
Last night I went to my Spin Class and it was great. My body is feeling good and is getting in better shape. I am trying to not eat any sweets before the St. George Triathlon. Hopefully a better diet will help out a little more!

Terrific Tuesday
Last night I got another 3.1 mile run in. I ran it in about 26:30 minutes. I am pretty happy with that time, although my right shin is hurting a bit today. I am going to rest it until Saturday, when I will run again. Tonight I am planning on going to my Spin Class. I haven't been for two weeks so it could be brutal. Only 2 1/2 weeks! So excited!

Awesome Monday
Last night I got a great workout in. First, I swam 40 laps in about 19 minutes. Then, I ran 3.1 miles on the treadmill in 27 minutes. I needed to do a hard run because I wanted to make up for my race on Saturday. I feel that I could have done better during the race. But today my muscles feel great. Tonight will be running and yoga!

Fun Run
I did not work out on Friday, but on Saturday morning Skyler and I ran in the Placentia Get Fit 5K. We figured it would be a fun way to train for the day. Skyler had never ran in a 5K before, but the previous day he ran 5 1/2 miles in the rain in 40-something minutes. I am so impressed. My running isn't as great as it used to be, but Skyler is such an endurance runner. I guess we both have different strengths. Anyways, I finished the 5K in 26:26, which is a 8:32 mile pace. I am prett happy with that. Skyler pointed out that I will probably have the same pace even after I have swam and biked in a triathlon. I guess I need to figure out how to pick up the pace when it is only one event. Skyler placed 3rd in his division and even got a medal. I am so proud of him!

Thursday
Skyler and I had planned on working out together last night, but he wasn't feeling well. So I did a quick swim by myself. I swam 50 laps in 24 minutes. My legs feel great today because I pushed myself hard. Tomorrow Skyler and I are planning on running in the Get Fit 5K in Placentia. It will be a great way to practice my running, especially in a race. I haven't ran this particular race since 2000. I can't believe it's been 7 years. So excited to do it. Hopefully it won't rain!

Day Off
Yesterday I ran at the gym. The treadmill I used cleared all of the info before I could see how far I ran or how long. But I would guess around 16 miles and 1.75 miles. Then I did 1 hour of yoga. Oh how I needed it! Tonight I am taking the night off to hang out with my family at Disneyland!

Good start
After last week's 5-day workout, I knew I needed to keep up the pace. So yesterday I swam 40 laps in 19:45 and then ran 2 miles in 17 minutes. The race is 25 days away and I am so excited about it! Tonight yoga with a short run before...that's the plan.

Running
I ran outside yesterday. It wasn't far, only about 2.5 miles, but it felt great to be able to run outside in the nice weather. I have worked out 5 days this week, so far. Maybe I will get the chance to work out today also! We will see!

Surprise Thursday
Skyler and I went to the Anaheim Hills gym last night. I swam 60 laps. Not sure of the exact time because the stop clock was broken. But it was around 30 minutes.

Awesome
Yesterday I ran 2 miles in 17 minutes. Then I biked in the Spin class for 60 minutes. I burned like a million calories. Felt great! I am working tonight so I probably won't get a workout in. That's ok!

Monday & Tuesday
Monday night I was able to have a great workout! First, I ran 3 miles in 28 minutes, then I swam 50 laps in 23:50. I felt great but very tired after I got home. Tuesday I was unable to workout before yoga class (due to work) so yoga was all I was able to do that night. Even though I don't burn as many calories or my heart rate isn't as high, I feel yoga is something that really benefits my training. I would love to see Skyler come with me sometime!

A new week: Monday
I didn't expect to do any training this past weekend because of work, but work got cut short unexpectantly on Saturday so I was able to go running with Skyler. I haven't ran with Skyler in a long time, partly because I have been avoiding running with him for two reasons: #1-He is a lot faster than me so we don't end up running together, #2-If we do run together, I know I am slowing him down. But it worked out well this weekend because he had to run a little slower due to his bad knees and shin splints. We ran together on the trails of the Fullerton Loop. I hadn't ever ran on those trails before, but there are plenty of them for me to explore. We ran for 28 minutes, probably around 3 miles. The weather was perfect for a mid-day run. It was perfect!

Change in plans
I didn't run yesterday, but I did get a quick swim in. Skyler and I did a quick 30 laps at the gym. I haven't swam with Skyler in a long time. I was able to keep up with his pace, but I was pushing myself hard. I did the swim in about 14:15.

A new day
Well, I didn't get the chance to run yesterday due to a family gathering. But the plan is to run when I get home today, before we go see Chris get set apart as a missionary. It's nice to be able to run around my neighborhood for a few miles. It sure takes a lot less time than driving to and from the gym. Happy Friday!

Cycle Success
I tried to get to the gym early so I could get my cycle pass and then do some weights before class, but I got there with just enough time to get one of the last passes. I really love the cycle class because I am able to push myself, plus I am guaranteed to be doing at least 60 minutes of a workout. Yesterday I made a point to do most of the class sitting down. I feel that I get a better workout that way because it is similar to the riding I do outside of the gym. So I made it through the class (it is still so hard) and emerged drenched in sweat. It felt great. Thursdays are usually my days off because Skyler gets home earlier, but I might try to get a run in tonight because I know I won't be able to work out tomorrow (due to Chris, my nephew, being set apart at 7:00 in south county).

Introduction
My first triathlon race is on May 12, 2007 in St. George, Utah. Skyler read me an article that said that I should start a blog to keep track of my training and also so that other people can help push me along. I have been training for this race since we returned from Costa Rica in the middle of January. I had a rough start due to shin splints. They were probably caused by my enthuiastic approach to running, which means I started off running too much. Luckily, I was still able to work on my swimming and my biking. All of my activities are going very well.
Anyways, yesterday I ran 2.75 miles in 25 minutes. Then I did yoga for an hour. Yoga is the only activity that I do outside of my swimming, running, and biking. Yoga really relaxes me and strengthens all of my muscles. The class I go to is actually a Yoga Pump class which incorporates the use of light weights for the arms. I like this a lot because I don't put too much emphasis on working out my arms and in this class I get to do that. I really should do more strength training with my arms too so I can have great looking, non-sagging arms. Anyways, tonight is my Spin Class. I enjoy that one a lot because I feel like I am getting a great workout and I put in a full hour.
